Bio

Beth Bru (b. 1999) is a Miami-based multidisciplinary artist and muralist. Her practice spans large-scale public art commissions, tactile sculpture, and studio painting. Deeply invested in making art accessible to everyone, she has developed major murals and interactive live painting activations across the country, collaborating with premier entities such as Miami Art in Public Places, Live Nation, Baptist Health, Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, and CBS News.

Bru has exhibited widely, with recent highlights including her solo exhibitions Fruits of the Spirit (Miami-Dade Public Library, Downtown Branch) and Artserve (Fort Lauderdale) , as well as group exhibitions in the Miami Design District and Little Havana. She is also the recipient of a grant and second-place honors from Green Space Miami’s prestigious Artist as Catalyst Program.

statement

My practice investigates the intersection of regional geography, childhood nostalgia, and joyful storytelling, utilizing vibrant visual landscapes to offer a profound sense of hope. Drawing from the hyper-saturated style of early 2000s animation, 1980s Miami design, and the neon signage of commercial culture, I construct alternative environments that celebrate the innocence and warmth of memory. Rather than a way to ignore the world's complexities, creating joyful art is my intentional choice to counter the heaviness of our current landscape with spaces of peace and sanctuary.

This visual vocabulary is rooted in a continuous dialogue between two iconic environments: the artificial neon grid of my upbringing in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the fluid, coastal energy of Miami, Florida. My relocation to South Florida represents an environmental evolution rather than a stylistic departure. The palm motifs and luminous signage that symbolized home and familiarity in the dry desert have transformed under the humid sun, absorbing a rich cultural color palette, unique coastal scenery, and historic pedestrian thoroughfares like Lincoln Road.

Working across the monumental scale of site-specific murals and the tactile constraints of sculpture, I examine how color and form can democratize public space. I am interested in the tension between the physical permanence of the built environment and the fleeting, intuitive nature of human joy. Ultimately, my practice is grounded in a calling to manifest light and convey a sense of divine presence within the public sphere. By embedding these high-vibrancy works directly into community hubs, my art functions as a site-specific archive of optimism, proving that beauty, spiritual resilience, and shared joy are vital instruments for collective healing and civic engagement.
